Love by Roy Croft

I stumbled upon this poem today and it is completely beautiful:

“Love” by Roy Croft

I love you,
Not only for what you are,
But for what I am
When I am with you.

I love you,
Not only for what
You have made of yourself,
But for what
You are making of me.
I love you
For the part of me
That you bring out;
I love you
For putting your hand
Into my heaped-up heart
And passing over
All the foolish, weak things
That you can’t help
Dimly seeing there,
And for drawing out
Into the light
All the beautiful belongings
That no one else had looked
Quite far enough to find.

I love you because you
Are helping me to make
Of the lumber of my life
Not a tavern
But a temple;
Out of the works
Of my every day
Not a reproach
But a song.

I love you
Because you have done
More than any creed
Could have done
To make me good
And more than any fate
Could have done
To make me happy.
You have done it
Without a touch,
Without a word,
Without a sign.
You have done it
By being yourself.
Perhaps that is what
Being a friend means,
After all.

A Little Brain teaser

Try these out and tell me your results, I was rolling after I finished them lol.
Exercise the Brain

Exercise of the brain is as important as exercise of the muscles. As we grow older, it's important that we keep mentally alert. The saying; "If you don't use it, you will lose it," also applies to the brain, so..... Below is a very private way to gauge your loss or non-loss of intelligence. Take the following test and determine if you are losing it or are still "with it.”

OK, relax, clear your mind and.... begin.
1. What do you put in a toaster?

Answer: "bread." If you said "toast," then give up now and go do something else. Try not to hurt yourself. If you said, "bread," go to Question 2.

2. Say "silk" five times. Now spell "silk." What do cows drink?

Answer: Cows drink water. If you said "milk," please do not attemptThe next question. Your brain is obviously over stressed and may even over heat It may be that you need to content yourself with reading something more appropriate, such as Children's World."
If you said "water," proceed to question 3

3. If a red house is made from red bricks, and a blue house is made from blue bricks, and a pink house is made from pink bricks and a black house is made from black bricks, what is a green house made from?

Answer: Greenhouses are made from glass. If you said, "green bricks.” what the devil are you still doing reading these questions?????
If you said "glass," then go on to Question 4.

4. Twenty years ago, a plane was flying at 20,000 feet over Germany. If you recall, Germany at the time was politically divided into West Germany and East Germany. Anyway, during the flight, TWO of the engines failed. The pilot, realizing that the last remaining engine is also failing, decides on a crash landing procedure. Unfortunately the third engine fails before he has time to attempt an emergency landing, and the plane crashes smack in the middle of "no man's land" between East Germany and West Germany.
Where would you bury the survivors? . . . in East Germany or West Germany or in "no man's land
"?

Answer: You don't, of course, bury survivors. If you said ANYTHING else, you are a real dunce and you must NEVER try to rescue anyone from a plane crash. Your efforts would not be appreciated
If you said, "Don't bury the survivors," proceed to

5. If the hour hand on a clock moves 1/60 of a degree every minute how many degrees will the hour hand move in one hour?

Answer: One degree. If you said, "360 degrees" or anything other than "one degree," you are to be congratulated on getting this far, but you are obviously out of your league. Turn in your pencil, and exit the room.
Everyone else proceed to the final question.

6.. Without using a calculator -- You are driving a bus from London to Milford Haven in Wales. In London, 17 people get on the bus. In Reading Six people get off the bus, and nine people get on. In Swindon, two people get off and four get on. In Cardiff, 11 people get off and 16 people get on. In Swansea, three people get off and five people get on. In Carmathen, six people get off and three get on. You then arrive at Milford Haven.
What was the name of the bus driver?

Answer: Oh, for heaven's sake! Don't you remember? It was YOU!!

Rising above the need

I ran across this excerpt today and thought I would share it with you all (if there's anyone who reads these things). As a student, friend, campus liason, youth leader, employee, and family member I find that I undertake a lot of tasks that are at times too overwhelming. Most of the things that I do are "busy work" and part of the problem is that I love being active in every environment that I am in.

This year has been particularly time-consuming given that I am graduating and had accummulated responsibilities from the past 4 years here. I am a person that needs to feel in control of situations because I sometimes do not trust others to make or put enough efforts as I do. I have, however, slowly learned "let go" of some of my responsibilities to give way to my priorities. Although those were hard decisions to make it was for the best because this semester I have had more flexibility to pursue areas of my life that are important and am getting ready to begin the rest of my life. Uncertainty troubles me at times, but in a way I become much more optimistic because it means that the future I ave dreamed out for myself is nothing compared to the wonders that await me and the people that will be around it...

So read the excerpt below and tell me what you think. What thoughts are rushing through your head? What do you value and what are you afraid of? I'm ready to rise above the need

------------------------------------------------------

Rise above the need
+++++++++++++++++++

Instead of focusing so intently on what you can get, consider
What you can let go.
Lighten your load and become more
Nimble, peaceful and powerful.

Some of the things you so desperately think you need, you do
Not need at all.
As your needs diminish, your freedom and
Richness grow.
There's nothing you must have in order to be.
Devote some of

Your life to simply being, and know the liberation that
Comes from letting go of yourself.

Ambition, intention and disciplined effort will bring you
Much in this world.
Always remember, though, that there is
More to life than the success the world confers.
When you act out of need you will struggle from a position
Of weakness.

Rise above the need, and you are free to
Achieve without limitation.
Remember that fulfillment is not about getting all that you need.
Fulfillment is knowing the freedom to be all that you are.

~~Ralph Marston
